Michaela Bateman is currently double-majoring in Vocal Performance and Music Education with a Vocal Concentration at UNM. She is also the 2016 Theodore Presser Music Scholar. Michaela currently sings with UNM Opera Theater, UNM Concert Choir, and UNM Chamber Singers. In addition, she is an active part of UNM’s ACDA and NAfME collegiate chapters. Michaela comes to St. John’s after interning with the UNM Children’s Chorus for three semesters. When she is not surrounding herself in musical experiences, you may find her choreographing and coaching figure skaters of all levels at the Outpost Ice Arena or participating in Albuquerque’s community theater scene. She hopes to become a professional vocalist, music director/conductor, and music educator someday; however, she also plans to earn a Master’s degree and, hopefully, a Doctorate. Michaela thanks the St. John’s community for their warm welcome and the opportunity to make music with St. John’s Chancel Choir and NewSound Children’s Chorus.
