Angie has been a Christian all her life and a member of St. John’s UMC for fifteen years. Angie and her husband, Dave, raised their two daughters at St. John’s, and they were actively involved as teachers/sponsors for Sunday school, Vacation Bible school, youth choirs, summer choir camps, weekly UMYF activities, Sacramento youth camps, Youth Music & Mission trips, and Upward Basketball sport activities. Now that their daughters are married and live out of state, Angie and Dave continue to remain active in many of these ministries at church.
Angie is a Nationally Certified Speech & Language Pathologist (ASHA), with thirty-one years of teaching experience with special needs children, preschool through 12th grade, in both the public school setting and through the private church preschool setting. She has worked as a preschool teacher for approximately fifteen years at St. John’s and now substitutes for the program during her semi-retirement. She particularly enjoys volunteering to provide inclusionary support for special needs children in all the various children’s programs at church so that they can participate fully with their typically developing peers within the church community. Angie’s favorite area of inclusionary work is helping children and youth with music and rhythm/movement and drama; where they can enhance their learning by maximizing all their brain functioning modalities! Each child can be a success and experience joy when he/she is expressing his/her spirituality through music; as we all do through our worship experiences in growing closer to the Lord!
