The Chancel Choir is a part of the congregation which has been given special music-making and musical worship leading responsibilities.

The Chancel Choir is open to singers 18 and above. Experience is helpful but not required, and there is no audition. Chancel Choir rehearses on Wednesday evenings from 7 pm-8:30 pm, and sings each Sunday in the 11am worship service.

We perform music in a wide variety of styles, and do special annual presentations with orchestra. Recent performances have included the Requiems of Mozart, Duruflé and Rutter, Karl Jenkins’ The Armed Man: A Mass for Peace, and other major works. In February of 2013 the St. John’s Chancel Choir performed Beethoven’s Mass in C Major with the New Mexico Philharmonic.
