Dedicated to leading God’s people in worship, the 60-voice Chancel Choir is the center of the vital music ministry at St. John’s United Methodist Church. Come and sing with us!
Bells of St. John’s
This devoted group of advanced handbell ringers rehearses on Tuesday evenings and performs in worship on an occasional basis.
Abide Praise Band
The Abide Band performs each week in the 9:30am contemporary service. Led by Trisha O’Keefe, the praise band rehearses on Wednesday evenings.
The Joy Singers are a group of older musicians who enjoy singing music in a gospel style. Directed by Douglas Arrington, they rehearse on Monday mornings and sing occasionally in worship and for community functions.
The St. John’s Bluegrass Ensemble has been in existence since the late 1960s, and features singers and instrumentalists with a talent for performing sacred music in a folk or bluegrass style. They are directed by Roger Eaton.
A small, select group of women’s voices, Sweet Assurance performs in worship several times each year, and are directed by Carolyn Good.
A subset of the Chancel Choir, the Kingdom Singers (tenor and bass ensemble) perform in worship several times each year, and are directed by Joe Keith.

St. John’s is proud that we are a hospitable place for performers in Albuquerque. We have two ensembles-in-residence, who rehearse at St. John’s and make fantastic music for our community.
